Dear Parents:
We are looking forward to the start of the new school year. Student orientation is an important first step of the school year for all students. The orientation takes on different forms for the divisions of our school.
Elementary Students
The youngest students in our school have the privilege of bringing their parents to school on Monday, August 15 for an Open House from 1:00-3:00 in the afternoon. This is a casual time of visiting the teachers, making new friends, and seeing old friends again. In addition to the classroom teachers, the “specials” teachers will be there to say “Hello”. Tuesday will be a full day of school.
Middle School Students
The students in grade 6 are all starting out in the middle school, so we invite all of the students to the new student orientation on Monday morning from 9:00-11:00. We will meet in the chapel where teachers will introduce themselves and we’ll share some on the differences between the elementary and middle school divisions. New students in grades 7 and 8 will have the opportunity to meet other new students. Students in grades 7 and 8 who have previously attended GCA do not need to attend on Monday. All middle school students need to attend the first full day of classes on Tuesday, August 16.
High School
The students in grade 9 are all starting out in high school, so we invite all of the students in grade 9 to the new student orientation on Monday morning from 9:00-11:00. We will meet in the chapel where teachers will introduce themselves and their subjects. New students will have the opportunity to meet other new students. Students in grades 10-12 who have previously attended GCA do not need to attend on Monday. All high school students need to attend the first full day of classes on Tuesday, August 16. Arrive early enough to be in your homeroom before 7:45.
Our theme for the school year is “Responsibility”. Our theme verses from Scripture are found in Mark 12:28-31. A law professor had listened as Jesus debated with members of at least two religious sects and was quite impressed by his skill. He took the opportunity to interject his question: “Of all the commandments, which is the most important?” What responsibilities do your children perceive as being the most important at your home or at school?
We’ll see you soon!
Under God’s Grace,
