Open Letter to All Parents

Dear Parents:                                                                                                                    May 2015

Thank you for sending your son/daughter to Grace Christian Academy for the 2014-2015 school year.  It has been a good year and we are already looking forward to the 2015-2016 school year.  This message contains information about 1. The Graduation Ceremony; 2. Quarterly Exams; 3. Year End tasks; and 4. Summer School.

  1. The Graduation Ceremony

We are pleased to hold a graduation ceremony to honor the students in grade 12 who will be completing their course of studies at GCA.  All students will participate in this program, presented at 7:00pm on Tuesday, June 2.  All students are required to attend.  Students must wear their “performance black and white” clothes; black pants and an all-white dress shirt for the boys, and a long black skirt and white blouse for the girls.  Black shoes are best, but please don’t feel obligated to purchase new shoes for this event.  Students may not wear sneakers that have neon or other bright colors; girls may not wear heels.  The dress rehearsal for the program will be on Friday, May 29, during school hours, so please prepare the expected clothing before that date.

Special seating is reserved for the family members of the students who are graduating.  We will reserve the best seats for you, but if you are late, we will give those seats away to others!

  1. Quarterly Exams

Here are the final exam schedules.  Middle School students take one exam per day.  High school students have half day schedules for the duration of the exams.  Please note that exams have been scheduled for the last day of school, Friday, June 12.

   3.  Year End tasks

We struggle each year to have high school students involved with cleaning their lockers and making sure that all books have been turned into the library.  The last day of school is Friday, June 12.  HS students can leave as early as 11:00, if they have their parent’s permission, and if the homeroom teacher has given permission.  The homeroom teachers have a list of what must be accomplished before the students leave.  That list will include the following elements.

*Textbooks returned to the library

*Lockers cleaned out

*Homerooms and B1 cleared of all of personal belongings

  1. Summer School is available

The last day of school is Friday, June 12 Please note that there are exam periods on that day.  This is not a frivolous day which can be neglected.  We need your help as we ask students to clear out their lockers and make sure that all books have been returned to the library.  Each year, the amount of unclaimed items in B1 and the homerooms is astounding.  HS students can leave as early as 11:00, if they have their parent’s permission, and if the homeroom teacher has given permission.  Middle School and Elementary students have the similar tasks, but they will not be dismissed until 1:00.  The homeroom teachers have a list of what must be accomplished before the students leave.  That list will include the following elements.

Thank you,
