Dear GCA Families: June 29, 2015
We have sad and shocking news to share. Four GCA students attended the concert at the Water Park and have been severely burned. We ask for your prayers. GCA will post messages and notes of encouragement and support from students, teachers and parents, in both English and Chinese. Please send your messages to GCA.OFFICE [GCA.OFFICE@MSA.HINET.NET] or tarpyt@gcataipei.com, and we’ll post them on the website for you.
We know that the parents and family members are currently inundated with calls. We do not yet have permission from all of them to use their names and we want to respect their privacy at this difficult time. Here are the last bits of information we have.
All four girls have suffered extensive burns on their arms and legs. They are all conscious and in ICU, but they are not all at the same hospital.
———— (the student who joined GCA in January) has had the most severe injuries but we have not had direct contact with her parents. She has not had surgery. The doctors feel that he condition isnot yet stable enough for surgery. (For those who are worried about her good friend; she did not attend the concert.)
——- (The recent graduate) has had surgery. She has been transferred to NTU. Her parents prefer that we not use her name on the website.
——- (Her brother also attended GCA) She had surgery again on Monday. There is a concern regarding infections.
——— (The most recent of the four to join GCA) suffered lung injuries in addition to the burns. Her parents are now here in Taiwan with her.
We are not aware of any other GCA students who attended the concert. Many students have called and facebook is filled with questions and concern. These students are precious in the eyes of their peers and many are heart sick at their tragedy. Teachers are around the world with various vacation plans. They are enlisting the prayers of their family members and the church members where they are visiting. Prayers are being sent to the Throne of God on behalf of these students, from around the world.
Dear Girls: We are praying for you; praying that the doctors will be skillful and that there will be no infections. A famous author, Max Lucado, wrote: “God dispenses His goodness not with an eyedropper but a fire hydrant.” We are praying for an outpouring of God’s Grace upon each of you. Hebrews 4:16 “Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.”
Under God’s Grace,
Mrs. Chow

Here is the update condition of girls.
Tammy: Surgery has been very successful and she has already transferred to a regular room in the main Cathay General hospital.
Karen: She just finished her sixth surgery last Saturday, however, she does not feel well (doesn’t want to eat and feels nausea). Please keep pray for her recovery and she still has another 10% of her body skin that needs to have surgery. She is in ICU. Please pry for the college can keep the space for her until she re-covers.
Judy: Just finished having more skin surgery and is recovering well. Next Monday Judy will have her last skin surgery so keep praying for her complete recovery. She is in ICU
Elysa: Who is in ICU, has been improving on her long road to full recovery. Here is the message from the father in Chinese.
P. S. Jade’s mother called the office to inform us that Jade will visit the 4 girls every week. If any teachers would like to visit the girls, you can contact Jade.
